Sheryl Crow has announced her 11th studio album, Evolution, out March 29th, 2024 via The Valory Music Group. As a preview, she’s shared a new song called “Alarm Clock.” Check it out below.
Featuring nine new songs, Evolution was produced by Mike Elizondo (Dr. Dre, Maroon 5, Keith Urban). The record comes as a bit of a surprise after Crow said 2019’s Threads would likely be her final album as she turned her attention to sharing standalone singles.
“Everything is more song oriented now with streaming, and making an album is a huge endeavor,” Crow explained in a new statement. “I started sending just a couple of demos to Mike, but the songs just kept flowing out of me and it was pretty obvious this was going to be an album.” She added, “This music and these lyrics came from sitting in the quiet and writing from a deep soul place. I said I’d never make another record, thought there was no point to it. But this music comes from my soul. And I hope whoever hears this record can feel that.”

Co-written by Crow with Elizondo and Emily Weisband, “Alarm Clock” marks the singer-songwriter’s first single since her 2022 documentary Sheryl, which featured the new song “Forever.” On Thursday night, she debuted the track on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Watch a full replay of the performance below.
Crow will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame tonight, November 3rd, in a ceremony that will be livestreamed on Disney+. During the event, she will be honored alongside Rage Against the Machine, Willie Nelson, Missy Elliott, Kate Bush, George Michael, and The Spinners. She will also reunite with Olivia Rodrigo for a performance on stage.
