Paramore are an American pop punk band formed in 2004 in Franklin, Tennessee, consisting of Hayley Williams (vocals), Taylor York (guitar), and Zac Farro (drums).
After moving to Franklin in 2002, Williams would go on to meet Farro and his brother Josh at a homeschooled students program. Before the creation of Paramore, Williams played in a cover band with former group bassist Jeremy Davis, while the Farro brothers practiced together. Williams would then sign with Atlantic Records in 2003 before officially joining Paramore in 2004 with the Farro brothers and Davis. They were also joined by Williams’ neighbor Jason Bynum, who played rhythm guitar.
The band’s first song together was “Conspiracy,” which was released through the label Fueled by Ramen and appeared on their debut record All We Know is Falling (2005). The album was certified Gold by the RIAA, along with the track “Pressure.” After playing on the Warped Tour and the Winter Go West tour, Paramore would release their second studio album Riot! in 2007 working with producer David Bendeth. Two years following their sophomore effort, Brand New Eyes, a project that saw the band work with producer Rob Cavallo, was released.
At this point, Paramore had seen members come and go -- Davis twice, and the Farro brothers in 2010. Davis would depart for the third time in 2015 following the release of the band’s self-titled effort in 2013, an album that would top the Billboard 200 and net them a Grammy for Best Rock Song for “Ain’t It Fun.”
Zac Farro returned to Paramore for the group’s fifth studio album, After Laughter (2017), which featured the single “Hard Times.” Their sixth studio album, This Is Why, was released in February 2023. The album's title track was named Consequence's Top Song of 2022.
