Fifteen years into Consequence’s existence, we finally got Dave Grohl to talk to us one-on-one. And all it took was Foo Fighters deciding to make a feature length horror-comedy, Studio 666.
Ahead of the film’s release this Friday (February 25th), we spoke with Grohl about how Foo Fighters ended up in the movie-making business. “I came up with this really stupid idea,” the rocker says. “Band moves into haunted, creepy house, portal to hell in the basement, creative differences, I fuckin’ murder everyone because I’m possessed, and then I go solo. That was it! And everyone kind of laughed and was like, ‘Yeah, that’d be kinda cool,’ and then it fuckin’ snowballed into a full-length feature film.”
He goes on to discuss reaching out to friends like Whitney Cummings, Will Forte, and Lionel Richie for cameo roles; coming up with the gruesome kills; and a secret guest appearance that truly rocks. Grohl also shouts out his bandmates’ acting chops, noting, “I think fuckin’ Rami Jaffee is a great actor. I don’t know if he knows that yet, but he’s… I’m saying he could be the next Paulie Shore.”
