Foo Fighters Week continues here at Consequence with a roundtable discussion with some famous fans. Keep it locked here throughout the week for more interviews, lists, editorials, and videos — it’s all things Foos, all the time. You can see everything in one convenient place here.
Anyone who knows Consequence knows we like to gush about the excellence of Foo Fighters. But it’s not just us pop culture journalists who hold Dave Grohl and Co. in such high regards: Many of their fellow rock stars recognize the band as some of the greatest to ever do the thing. We gathered four such musical peers — Royal Blood bassist/vocalist Mike Kerr, Dropkick Murphy guitarist/accordionist Tim Brennan, The Struts singer Luke Spiller, and Biffy Clyro drummer Ben Johnston — for a roundtable discussion about all things Foos.
All four artists have a history of touring with the band of honor, and many consider its members friends. Perhaps more importantly, all four of our roundtable panelists can point to Foo Fighters as influences on their own careers. Like all of us, they are fans first — they just happen to be fans whom Grohl knows by name.
Amidst jovial banter and constant admiration, the panelists share personal anecdotes, recall learning from the band while on the road, and dig into Studio 666. From their first encounter with The Colour and the Shape (our pick for Foo Fighters’ best album and celebrating its 25th anniversary this year) to insights about the group’s legacy as a whole, it’s a fun, fascinating, and endearing conversation between rock stars about rock superstars.
