Last month, Snoop Dogg delighted stoners everywhere by revealing that his “quitting smoke” announcement had nothing to do with his smokes-so-much-weed-he-hired-a-guy-to-roll-his-blunts lifestyle and everything to do with a new ad for a smokeless fire pit, in which he talks up the product and joyously lights a marshmallow on fire. Now, an exciting detail about the ad has come out: the marshmallow was the first one Snoop Dogg had ever roasted in his life.

The confirmation of Snoop’s rite of passage arrived on Monday in a new interview by The Daily with the fire pit company’s CEO, John Merris. In it, he explains how the company, Solo Brands, brought in the Martin Agency for advertising help, who came up with the idea for the campaign. From there, Merris ended up pitching the idea over the phone to Snoop himself, who was “on board in minutes.”

It was only six weeks before Black Friday when Snoop signed on, but nevertheless, everything fell swiftly into place. After two weeks of negotiations, Merris was attending the shoot and got the honor of witnessing Snoop “roast his very first marshmallow, at 52 years old.” In the ad, Snoop can be seen bouncing the sugary treat in and out of the flame, laughing as he sets it ablaze. One can’t help but wonder how Jack White feels about all of this, considering his confusion over Snoop’s dealings with marshmallows in the past. Last year, White posted on Instagram about Snoop’s cereal, then called “Snoop Loopz,” which came in a box that prominently displayed the words “more marshmallows.” White questioned “More than what?” and theorized that it could be “a DEMAND from Snoop Dogg himself that we just have more marshmallows in this world in general.” He ended with “answers demanded.”

How exactly Snoop’s cereal ended up with so many marshmallows in it while the Dogg Father himself evaded eating the real thing for 52 years is unknown to us, but what we do know is that Snoop’s weed-smoking days seem here to stay. In March, he played Melbourne, Australia, and in October, Ed Sheeran revealed that the two met up backstage, smoked, and he ended up getting so high he couldn’t see.
