Apple TV+ has revealed the premiere date and official trailer for the upcoming ten-episode fantasy series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters. Based on Legendary’s Monsterverse, it lands on streaming globally Friday, November 17th. Watch the trailer below.
Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is a multi-generational story that stars father-son duo Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell as Army officer Lee Shaw, whose knowledge about the covert Monarch alliance threatens its safety even decades later. It picks up following the events of the 2014 Godzilla film.
“Following the thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans that leveled San Francisco, and the shocking revelation that monsters are real, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters tracks two siblings following in their father’s footsteps to uncover their family’s connection to the secretive organization known as Monarch,” reads the show’s official logline. “The dramatic saga – spanning three generations – reveals buried secrets and the ways that epic, earth-shattering events can reverberate through our lives.”
Monarch: Legacy of Monsters also stars Anna Sawai, Kiersey Clemons, Ren Watabe, Mari Yamamoto, Anders Holm, Joe Tippett, and Elisa Lasowski. It marks the second MonsterVerse TV series, following Netflix’s anime Skull Island. The next feature film in the franchise, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, is set to hit theaters in April 2024.
