Backstreet Boys’ AJ McLean and Lucas Silveira, Peer 2 Peer

Iconic Backstreet Boys member AJ McLean and Lucas Silveira of The Cliks both are using their prominent platforms to support transgender and queer representation.

McLean has been giving his Instagram account to queer artists (including Silveira) for informative takeovers, and the music video for his new solo single “Love Song Love” stars a pair of trans actresses. Silveira, meanwhile, is the first trans male signed to a major label record contract, and his Fuse and OutTV series Shine True is all about helping trans and non-binary individuals discover their authentic selves.

So to celebrate Pride Month (as well as the 25th anniversary of Backstreet Boys’ self-titled international debut album), McLean and Silveira Zoomed together for our new artist-on-artist interview series, Peer 2 Peer.

In addition to their wide-ranging LGBTQA+ discussion, McLean and Silveira discuss sobriety, the music industry, breaking gender norms, and working on Backstreet Boys’ first-ever Christmas album (!). Watch it all above.
