Tool guitarist Adam Jones and Gibson have announced a new signature model guitar in their ongoing partnership: the Flying V Collector’s Edition.

Designed and built to reflect Jones’ preference for physically heavier guitars, the axe features a non-weight relieved mahogany body, string-through ferrules, a Futura-style split headstock design, a truss rod cover with exclusive artwork, and a meticulously applied Reverse Antique Silverburst finish.

The guitar will be extremely limited (only 50 were made) and was aged by the Gibson Custom Shop Murphy Lab and hand-crafted by luthiers at Gibson Custom Shop in Nashville. It comes housed in a hardshell case.

Complementing the guitar, Jones and Gibson have also released a custom leather guitar strap and brooch combo. Developed by Adam himself, the guitar strap is made in the US from black 9/10 oz. latigo leather — the same as what the guitarist uses onstage in Tool. The adjustable belt buckle-style hardware allows you to adjust the length between 52-inches and 60-inches in one-inch increments and is adorned with a two-headed dog hand-cast and plated brooch designed by artist Alex Kuno.

Considering the limited hand-crafted nature of the guitar, it’s no surprise that it comes with a hefty price tag ($19,999) and can be purchased via Gibson’s website and authorized retailers. Meanwhile, the strap and brooch combo retails for $149 and is also available via Gibson’s website.

As for Jones, the guitarist will be busy over the coming months as Tool embarks on an extensive 2024 touring itinerary. Get tickets to the band’s upcoming shows here.
