Sublime with Rome have unveiled their latest EP, Tangerine Skies, featuring four sunshiney, new songs from the band. Stream it below.
Produced by the band’s Rome Ramirez, the tracks on Tangerine Skies capture the California ska sound that Sublime perfected three decades ago, with syncopated guitars, grooving beats, and strong vocal melodies. Lyrically, the songs allude to feelings of pain and confusion, but balance out the difficulties of life with its joys, ultimately landing on a message embracing peace and contentedness.
The title track conveys this perfectly, pairing a mid-tempo, acoustic guitar-led arrangement with lines like: “I learned to love the small things/ Had to learn to let it go/ Many rivers I have yet to cross/ But I know that I’m on the right road/ And I know I’m gonna get there.” Stream the EP and check out the music video for the title track below.
For their part, the members of Sublime with Rome — Ramirez, Sublime’s original bassist Eric Wilson, and new drummer Joe Tomino — shared a statement saying that they are “thrilled” about the new EP. “This collection of songs has been years in the making,” they said. “Originating as demos during the pandemic, we took this music out to Texas to fully realize it as an album. Tangerine Skies showcases the multifaceted songwriting and infectious grooves that our fans know and love. We’ve poured our hearts into this music, and we hope listeners cherish these songs as much as we do!”
The band shared the EP’s lead single, “Cool & Collected,” earlier this year as a joint-release with fellow Skunk Records alumnus, Slightly Stoopid, who they also toured with this past summer.
Speaking of: Sublime with Rome is booked for one show in Florida this December, and then will embark on a seven-show run in New Zealand.
